Documentation

The foramina in the terminology.

There are some 150 distinct foramina in the TAH. Following the FMA, we must distinguish two types of foramina: 1) the immaterial foramina are spaces making the junction between two entities which contains different vessels or nerves; 2) the material foramina are considered as the walls of some channels running through some entity.

As a consequence, the word foramen has two meanings and two different words are defined: the immaterial foramen is named foramen incorporeum and the material foramen is named foramen corporeum. The material foramen is the main word and the immaterial foramen is considered as a variant.
